painting of a nude woman
by Roy Munday

"Sue, mowing the grass"

Sue lived in North Wales and is a sun worshiper. As soon as the opportunity arises, she would quickly strip off and either tend the garden or relaxe in a favourite chair, unemcumbered by the rest of the world. Even the low flying training jets from nearby Angelse didn't purturb her. And we often wonderd if they chose the flight path which took them directly over her house in order to take a sneak look, given that they come down to fly almost at tree height!

size: 4 x 4 feet. (120 x 120 cm)
oil painting on canvas.
price: £660 sterling, unframed

I no longer go to Wales to this wonderful location, as Sue has now moved on. But I still remember wonderful times at this place, near Criccieth, especially when the weather was fine. I did a lot of painting in this area, on the beach, seafront, portraits of one or two local people. One famous character was Weldon, who lived in a local nursing home. He would sit on fine days outside the home, on the pavement, and passing traffic would acknowledge him with a beep of their horn and a hand wave.
